Post-doctoral fellowship:

Infrared Thermography applied to construction process

University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France

Salary: between 24 and 27 k€ per year depending on experience
Disciplines: engineering sciences, Energy in buildings, Non destructive testing, thermography infrared.

The 1 year postdoctoral fellowship position will start as soon as possible and at late in september 2016.

The department TREFLE is part of the Institute of mechanics and engineering of Bordeaux. This institute is a joint laboratory between the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the University of Bordeaux. Its team has a recognized expertise in the field of the non-destructive testing and in the field of energy in buildings. The H2020 European project Built2spec, begun in 2015, gives us the possibility to merge these two fields of skills in the context of construction stage. Built to Specifications (Built2Spec) is a Horizon 2020 EU-funded project involving 20 European partners that seeks to reduce the gap between a building’s designed and as-built energy performance. In this project, we aim at giving tools for self-inspection and quality check to contractors.

Mission :

A 1-year position (with possibility of extension) is available for a postdoctoral scientist to conduct a research project in the field of non-destructive testing applied to building during the construction stage. The selected candidate will work in the framework of the H2020 European project Built2spec.The job will consist in helping the team to fulfil all the tasks of the European project links with active and passive thermography infrared. A crucial aspect will be to bridge the gap between theory and practical aspects with direct and inverse modelisation and experimentation in laboratory and in-situ.

Candidate profile:

Preference will be given to candidates with existing experience in infrared thermography or/and in inverse modelling. Good communication and reporting skills in English and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will also be very much appreciated.
